We started TopicGems because we kept noticing the same problem: most technology content online is either too shallow to be useful or too jargon-heavy to actually understand. We wanted to write the guides we wished we'd had — clear, accurate, and grounded in real hands-on experience with the systems we write about.
Who We Are
TopicGems is run by two writers, Hashir and Abdullah, who both come from a professional background in IT and technology.
- Hashir — A freelance cybersecurity professional working on Fiverr since 2022, providing cybersecurity services to clients across various industries. He also offers website development and design services to clients on Fiverr, also since 2022. Alongside his security work, he has also built a working knowledge of virtualization.
- Abdullah — Hello everyone, my name is Syed Muhammad Abdullah Zahid. I've been writing articles on cybersecurity, networking, and virtualization for TopicGems since July 2026. Cybersecurity is my personal passion — I currently work as a remote software developer and am preparing for an Offensive Security certification. Writing about these topics helps me reinforce my own understanding through the "Teacher's Method," and I genuinely enjoy writing in English.
Together, we bring practical, on-the-job experience with the tools and systems we write about — not just theoretical knowledge. When we write about cloud computing, networking, or cybersecurity, it's informed by what we've actually configured, troubleshot, and worked with in real environments.
Why We Started TopicGems
We are two friends who share a passion for the online tech world — and who work in it every day. Between freelancing on real client projects and researching cybersecurity concepts hands-on, we realized we'd built up a lot of practical experience that most beginners never get exposed to. So one day, we decided to put that experience into words and share it online — not as distant experts, but as two people still learning and doing the work ourselves, writing for anyone who's starting where we once started.
